Free download god sees and knows all things

The time in Egypt was not an unexpected occurrence to God; He was not caught off guard by their sojourn. God had planned it centuries previously — and had also promised their deliverance. This prophesied deliverance was certain to come to pass. More generally, God has promised each of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that He will bless all the nations through their offspring Gen , , Given these promises, God had to remember, He could not forget His people in Egypt.

And what about us? Has He not also said to us. The fulfillment of the blessing of all nations through the offspring of Abraham is still future — and God will indeed fulfill that promise.

We can know with certainty that God remembers this promise — and that He will use His church to bring it about. In chapter 49 of Isaiah, the prophet portrays the fears of the exiled Israelites that God has forgotten them:. Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?

Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands Isaiah a. God forget? He can never do so. God always remembers His promises; He is always faithful to His people. As Paul tells us,. For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ.

God sees the Israelites! He sees all that happens to them — the slavery under which they suffer, the murder of their children — even the worse oppression which is coming. The Psalmist quotes such enemies in Fools, when will you be wise? He who formed the eye, does he not see? The final clause is the most important — and also the hardest to translate.

English translators have struggled with this phrase, and have rendered it many different ways. In this context, what is it that God knows? What does the author of Exodus mean by this phrase? Surely this is part of the meaning, as is brought out a few verses later in This verse is in many ways parallel to , using three of the four Hebrew verbs we consider today:.

Then the LORD said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings Ex ESV, emphasis added.

And He cares. What else does God know that is relevant to your own situation? Let me bring out 4 items in addition to their suffering that God knows:. He knows that they can do nothing to help themselves. He knows that unless He acts, they are lost. Remember how rebel-lious these very Israelites become.

God will begin to put His plan into effect — and they will attack his servants for making matters worse God rescues them with a series of great miracles — and yet as soon as they see the Egyptian army approaching, they wish they were back in slavery After God rescues them once more through the Red Sea, they begin to thirst and hunger, so they grumble against God , But just a few days later the people make an idol, a golden calf, and worship it.

God Himself calls them a stiff-necked people, and is prepared to destroy them And those are only their failures that are recorded in the book of Exodus.

We could continue to relate the history of the Israelites through the succeeding centuries and record event after event where they disregarded and disobeyed the God who loved them and brought them out of Egypt by His grace.

Did God make a mistake in choosing them? Did God think they would be better than they were? By no means! The knowledge of God is perfect. In the Book of Job a man named Elihu said. Do you know the balance of the clouds, those wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge Job Can anyone teach God knowledge, in that he judges those on high? Job For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became his counselor?

Romans For he knows those who are worthless, and he sees iniquity without investigating Job Scripture says that God is aware of what is presently happening here on earth. The Lord said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings" Exodus Says the Lord, who makes these things known from long ago Acts Because God knows everything that will happen, this allows Him to predict the future ahead of time.

We read the Lord saying that He,. Declares the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, 'My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all my good pleasure Isaiah Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him Genesis , Elisha answered, "Go and say to him, 'You will certainly not recover'; but the LORD has revealed to me that he will in fact die" 2 Kings Scripture speaks symbolically of the "eyes of God" seeing all things.

For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that he may strongly support those whose heart is completely his 2 Chronicles For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from my face, nor is their iniquity concealed from my eyes Jeremiah For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven will be glad when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel these are the eyes of the Lord which range to and fro throughout the earth Zechariah Does he who implanted the ear not hear?

Does he who formed the eye not see? Psalm Scripture informs us that the wicked question the nature and extent of God's knowledge. They question how God is able to know everything. And they say, "How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High? Therefore he knows their works, and he overthrows them in the night Job Only a God who is perfect in knowledge would be competent to judge humanity.

The Bible speaks of that Day of Judgment when the Lord judges all humanity. For God to judge righteously, He must know all things. But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the godless 2 Peter When people realize they will have to stand one day before an all-knowing God, this should cause them to evaluate the way they live their lives.

Judgment is coming and people need to live in light of it. Jesus said. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned Matthew Because God knows everything the warnings that He gives humankind need to be taken seriously. Since He knows what will happen in the future any warning He gives in for our benefit. There is great comfort for the believer in the omniscience of God. In all the problems the believer may face we are told by Jesus that, "Your Father knows" Matthew And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts.

If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever 1 Chronicles The believer may rest secure in the knowledge that God knows everything about them. Nothing about any of us will take God by surprise.

No one can tell Him anything that would cause Him to cast us out of His presence. He thoroughly knows us. Whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything 1 John As we examine what the Scripture has to say about the extent of the knowledge of God several things become clear.

First, God is a God of infinite knowledge - there is nothing that He is not aware of. God is not like human beings in His knowledge. He cannot learn anything, does not need to be taught and does not make any mistakes. Consequently He is able to righteously judge humanity for he knows the thought as well as the deed. His omniscience also allows him to predict the future. He knows everything that will happen before it occurs. There is great security for the believer in the omniscience of God.

He knows the need of each believer and he promises to meet those needs. All those who have put their trust in him are comforted by the thought of God's omniscience. Also, he knows the future no less than the past and the present, and possible events that never happen no less than the actual events that do 1 Samuel ; 2 Kings ; Psalm ; Isaiah Romans The idea that God could know, and foreknow, everything without controlling everything seems not only unscriptural but nonsensical.

How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! So, here in Colby, Kansas we strive to do well for our families, our jobs, our churches, and in every other aspect of our lives. God is omniscent — He knows everything!

Lord God, I pray to remember this in all aspects of my life. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen. He never errs, never changes, never overlooks anything. God not only knows whatsoever has happened in the past in every part of His vast domains, and He is not only thoroughly acquainted with everything that is now transpiring throughout the entire universe, but He is also perfectly cognizant with every event, from the least to the greatest, that ever will happen in the ages to come.

Were it in anywise possible for something to occur apart from either the direct agency or permission of God, then that something would be independent of Him, and He would at once cease to be Supreme.
